What is Root Cellaring?

Root Cellaring is the cold storage and preservation of vegetables, fruits, nuts, and other foods by way of an underground, or partially underground structure. By placing this structure underground and providing it with proper ventilation, protection from light, and high humidity, you are able to naturally and efficiently store and help keep your food from spoiling.

Though the initial setup of a root cellar may not be an easy task, it certainly would prove useful for storing surplus garden vegetables, your canned/jarred goods and many other foods helping you reduce waste, save energy, and live more self-sufficiently.
